In late 2015 a few like-minded Seabrook Island birders, comprised primarily of a group of volunteers actively monitoring bluebird boxes, represented one example of an emerging group of folks with a significant interest in all bird populations. Together they identified the need for an organization focused on birds, driven by both the diversity of species on the island and the wide range of migratory species that were dependent on Seabrook Island and the surrounding area during migration. The goal was to support and promote watching, learning, and protecting birds everywhere, particularly on this amazing island. This core group formed Seabrook Island Birders and kicked off the formal organization with their first meeting in January of 2016
Seabrook Island Birders will celebrate 10 years of watching, learning and protecting birds on our island in January of 2026. Members of our organization will gather for music, food, beverage and fun at the Lake House on January 29, 2026 and take the opportunity to reflect on all we have done together this past 10 years.

Moto-grass is a dynamic string band based out of Charleston, SC. The band performs acoustic songs from the traditional Bluegrass songbook, mixed with some more popular cover tunes. Moto-grass commonly performs as a trio, and at times adds special guests for an even fuller band sound! Tight 3-part vocal harmonies set this trio apart, and the band is a favorite for events!

Stephen Schabel, who many of us know and admire as the Vice President/Director of The Center for Birds of Prey & Education, is a member of Moto-Grass.

Each ticket comes with a $5 raffle coupon for great items that have been donated by Wild Birds Unlimited, fine art prints from members of the Seabrook Island Photography club and more….
Additional raffle tickets will be available for purchase at the event.

There will be a short presentation by Wild Birds Unlimited who was our guest speaker at our kickoff event in 2016.
