Seabrook Island Birders host evening programs 4 to 5 times per year. Programs are an integral part of our club’s focus on Learning and Protecting.

These events are free for members, typically guests can attend for a small fee. The format is traditionally a one hour talk by an expert on a bird or bird-related topic. This provides members an opportunity to learn about current avian research and to delve into a bird-related topic with the option to ask questions after the presentation. These events are recorded and made available to members via YouTube within the presenters guidelines.

A biennial talk by staff at the Center for Avian Conservation, Awendaw, SC, with accompanying live bird flight demonstrations, is a highlight program. Additionally we have hosted lectures on Wood Storks, Painted Buntings, Godwit, Kiwi, Swamp Sparrow and many more. During COVID , programs were virtual and a highlight speaker via Zoom was Scott Weidensaul.

These programs allow members to gather in-person for conversation and for a brief update from the President of Seabrook Island Birders prior to the program.
