Join the Seabrook Island Birders for a leisurely walk around Palmetto Lake. The path around Palmetto Lake is wheelchair navigable and for those walking it will probably be only a quarter of a mile. As you may already know the egret/heron/ibis rookery has become very large and they come in every evening around 5p. Let’s go look at them before they decide to move somewhere else. We hope to see some of our resident winter warblers such as Yellow-rumped Warblers, Palm Warblers , Black-and-white Warblers and the Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers. We also expect to see a large variety of birds including Northern Cardinals, Carolina Wrens, Herons and birds of prey. Hooded Mergansers, Pied-billed Grebes and Buffleheads are back too.
Dress in layers and bring your binoculars and hats. There is a 54% chance of rain, but let’s wish the weather person is wrong.
If you are not yet a 2025/26 SIB member, you may become a member for only $15 by following the instructions on our website: http://seabrookislandbirders.org/contact/join-sib/. You may bring the form and your dues to the event and your new membership will cover 2026. Or you may pay the Guest Fee of $10. SIPC members may choose to pay the guest fee of $5.
Please register, and let us know if you need a gate pass. See you there!
