Seabrook Island Birders Spreads Its Wings

SIB celebrated its 10th anniversary in January 2026. Our organization offers a variety of activities and programs, with many additional opportunities planned. We invite you to participate in the events listed on our website (https://sibirders.com/come-explore-with-us/) all an integral part of our mission of Watching, Learning, Protecting.

On Saturday April 18, 2026 we embarked on a new path, that of outreach and support of education beyond our membership. We sponsored the St. Christopher Barrier Island Education Fund’s Earth Day 5K, with our logo featured on event shirts and an on course sign.

Proceeds from this event support the Barrier Island Environmental Education Program, a multi-day outdoor immersion program for middle schoolers from all over, held at their camp on Seabrook Island. This program is focused on developing a next generation of conservationists and environmentalists.

In addition to supporting this great education program, members of Seabrook Island Birders had the opportunity to talk to over 50 individuals who showed great interest in what we do as a club.

In support of building interest in birding in our next 12 and under generation, Seabrook Island Birders held a free raffle for four Wild Republic Audubon Birds, donated by one of our members. Watch this video to see the fun.

SIB intends to provide financial support for additional programs of this nature in the future.  Your membership dollars not only allow YOU to participate in SIB programing, but they are being used to educate the next generation of folks who care about birds and our local ecosystem.
