Join the Seabrook Island Birders for a leisurely walk around Palmetto Lake.  The path around Palmetto Lake is wheelchair navigable and for those walking it will be probably only a quarter of a mile.  As we walk along Seabrook Island Road, we hope to see some of our resident summer birds such as Eastern Kingbirds and Orchard Orioles.  We also expect to see a large variety of birds including Northern Cardinals, Carolina Wrens, Herons and birds of prey.  What will be different for this Learning Together is we will watch closely for breeding activity such as carrying nesting material, food to young, etc and follow (at a distance) to see if we can find the nest(s).  Since we have never tried this before, we have no idea of our success but many eyes should make it easier.

We timed this for in cooler part of the day when birds should begin to be more active.  It could still be warm but cooling in the evening so dress in layers and bring your binoculars, hats, and a beverage of choice.

If you are not yet a 2026 SIB member, you may become a member for only $15 by following the instructions on our website: Become a Member. You may bring the form and your dues to the event. Or you may pay the Guest Fee of $10.

Please register no later than June 8th.  All registrants will receive a confirmation letter the day prior to the trip.  If you need to cancel, please let us know so we can invite people on the waitlist to attend.
