Have you ever wondered what the new signage (GATHERING GROUND) on Betsy Kerrison was all about? It is on the site of the old Rosebank Farmers Market. It is currently not open to the public but soon will be an environmental learning center. The Conservancy of the Sea Islands is developing a preserve on this 100-acre area. You may have already seen some native landscaping that has been placed. When they are finished, it will be a living classroom, scientific lab and gathering place where everyone can engage with nature. Nearly 2 miles of trails are planned through native landscapes, maritime forest and marsh views. We have been invited to tour and bird the property. Let’s go see what it looks like now, and then later visit again when they are open to the public. You will be asked to sign a waiver for the Conservancy. Wear good hiking boots. I have been on the trails and they are walkable, but might get wet depending on the weather, of course. IMPORTANT! Do not pull into the main entrance. it will be blocked off. Enter into the driveway just past the entrance (#4360) and drive all the way back to the house. There is plenty of parking there.

As always, be sure to bring your water, binoculars, hats and sunscreen.
