SIB Member Profile – Valerie Luzadder

Valerie moved here from Indiana with her husband Patrick in 2017 in search of
better weather and new adventures. They were both immediately enthralled with
the wide variety of birds, many of which they had never even heard of or seen! The
first purchase they made was a pair of binoculars.

Every year, Valerie and Patrick repair and refurbish the bluebird houses on the
golf courses. They also monitor one of the trails. Valerie is a dolphin educator for
LMMN on the Seabrook side and is a member of the Marine Mammal Stranding
Team. She has been on Seabrook Island Turtle Patrol for the past nine years. A
Purple Martin condo was recently installed at John’s Island County Park and Valerie
is a member of the monitoring team.

Learning from others passionate about birds, dolphins, and turtles, has been a
true pleasure for Valerie. Her philosophy is that our home, the Earth, needs
everyone and we can all help in a myriad of ways. After all, we are all in this
together!
